Our Origins
Gavilon South Africa's roots can be traced back to the 1970s and a US trading company called Woodward & Dickerson. In the 1970s, Woodward was a supplier of Canadian sulphur and Russian potash to South African fertilizer manufacturers, as well as other N, P and K fertilizers to importers in Southern and Eastern Africa. In 1984, the US food giant, ConAgra Foods Inc, acquired Woodward to support its expanding agricultural and fertilizer distribution activities. Through the 1980s and mid 1990s, ConAgra Fertilizer Co-continued to maintain a strong presence in the African region which Woodward had established.
We are committed in finding ways to help our customers grow their business. Due to uncertainty in the production and distribution channel, MacroSource uses its expertise as leverage in product sourcing, storage and handling, transportation and logistics, along with risk management to get the best prices for our customers on a wide array of fertilizer products.
